Gainesville, FL –Twenty-eight year-old Joshua Abbott of Gainesville is the focus of a fundraising campaign to assist with his medical expenses. Born on April 5, 1976, Joshua was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and doctors at the Shands Hospital at the University of Florida, in Gainesville recommended a life-saving double lung transplant.

An estimated $100,000 is needed for Joshua’s transplant expenses and some post-transplant care. Tax-deductible donations may be made in person at any Wachovia Bank branch location or mailed to the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, 2501 COTA Drive, Bloomington, IN 47403. Joshua is the son of Dave and Karen Deeter and John and Claudette Abbott, and the grandson of Lee and Shirley Humphrey and Charles and Julia Deeter. Joshua’s family has asked for assistance from the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, Bloomington, Indiana, a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding families and communities in raising funds for transplant-needy patients. The organization’s priority is to assure that no child is denied a transplant or excluded from a transplant waiting list due to lack of funds. One hundred percent of all funds raised are used for transplant-related expenses.
